GENERAL FAQ
What do I need to rent a car?
You'll need a valid driver's license, a passport or national ID, and a credit or debit card for payment. Some suppliers may also require a booking voucher or additional identification.
Can I rent a car without a credit card?
Yes! Many suppliers accept debit cards for both payment and deposit. Always check the Payment Policy on the car's "Rental Conditions" page.
At what age can I rent a car?
You can usually rent a car from age 18 or 21, depending on the supplier and country. Drivers under 25 may incur a Young Driver Fee, which is included in your final price.
Do I need insurance to rent a car?
Insurance is optional but highly recommended. Xpert Rent offers Full Coverage with zero excess for complete peace of mind.
Can someone else drive the car?
Yes — additional drivers must meet the same requirements as the main driver and be added to the rental agreement. Extra fees may apply depending on the supplier.
What happens if I arrive late for pick-up?
Most suppliers allow a grace period of 1–2 hours. After that, your booking may be marked as a no-show. Always notify your supplier if you're running late.
BOOKING & PAYMENT FAQ
How can I pay for my rental?
You can pay using: • Visa / MasterCard (credit or debit) • American Express (where accepted) • Apple Pay / Google Pay (selected suppliers)

Deposits vary by car category and supplier. Xpert Rent clearly displays the deposit amount before booking, and many cars have no deposit or low-deposit options.

Yes — some suppliers offer the option to reserve a car without upfront payment. Look for "Pay at pickup" badges.
Are there hidden fees?
No. All mandatory charges are included in your final price. Optional extras (GPS, child seats, insurance upgrades) are clearly shown before you confirm the booking.

You will receive the same or a similar car from the booked category. Suppliers may provide an upgrade at no extra cost if your exact model is unavailable.

The most common policies are: • Full to Full – return with a full tank (recommended) • Same to Same – same fuel level as pick-up All fuel rules are clearly displayed before booking.

Usually yes — but you must check the cross-border rules for your vehicle. Some cars may have restrictions for certain countries.
Can I take the car on a ferry?
Ferry use may require written permission from the supplier. Always check the "Rental Conditions" before planning island travel.
Are winter tires included?
In winter-season destinations like Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Vienna, winter tires are included by law and will always be fitted during the winter period. In other countries such as Montenegro, winter equipment rules vary by date and region, so check the seasonal tire requirements on your booking page. Some suppliers include winter tires free of charge, while others may apply an additional winterization fee, which is clearly shown in the Rental Terms before booking.
Can I use the car off-road?
Off-road driving is not allowed and may void your insurance. Stick to paved and marked roads.

Deposits protect the supplier in case of damage, fines, or additional charges. With Xpert Rent, you always see the deposit amount before booking.

What is the difference between CDW, LDW, and Full Coverage?
• CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) reduces your liability for damage. • LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) covers theft. • Full Coverage (Xpert Rent) adds protection for wheels, glass, towing, and admin fees.

AFTER YOUR RENTAL FAQ
What if I get a fine or toll charge?
Suppliers may charge your card after rental if they receive fines or toll invoices. Admin fees may apply, depending on the supplier.
How do I claim reimbursement with Full Coverage?
Upload your rental agreement, photos, and receipts in your booking dashboard. Claims are usually processed within a few business days.
How do I leave a review?
After your rental, you'll receive a short survey where you can rate your experience and leave public feedback to help other travelers.
Is it cheaper to rent a car at the airport or in the city?
Airport rentals are often more convenient, while city rentals can sometimes be cheaper. Xpert Rent compares both options so you can choose what fits you best.
When is the best time to book a rental car?
The best prices are usually available when you book 2–4 weeks in advance. For peak seasons like summer and ski holidays, booking 4–8 weeks ahead can save you more. Many suppliers also offer early-bird deals.
Do rental cars have GPS or Bluetooth?
Most modern cars come with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. GPS can be added as an optional extra.
Are rental cars smoked in?
No — all Xpert Rent cars are strictly non-smoking. Cleaning fees apply if smoking is detected.
Do rental cars include toll stickers (vignette)?
Some suppliers include the digital toll vignette in the rental price, while others charge it as an additional optional fee. You can always see whether the vignette is included or paid separately in the Rental Terms before booking. Most countries now use digital vignettes, so there is no physical sticker — your plate is registered in the toll system electronically.
